Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long is the season?
Depending on the season, a 10+ game season can be as long as 14 weeks which includes tournament-style playoffs or play-in games for all teams.
2.How long are games?
About an hour each. Each team will play one game each week and in some weeks have double-headers. We try to avoid gaps between a teams second game. Game times will vary each week.
3. How do I register?
You may submit an online preliminary registration via our website. This registration will then be reviewed for accuracy and a league official will contact you to discuss your team’s details.
4. What do I get for my registration fee?
A full regular season, extended playoffs, all referee fees paid, official team shirt, game time flag belt, player and team stats.
5. What is your refund policy?
We will provide refunds upon request prior to the registration deadline. Because we have to pay our expenses in advance (e.g. insurance, field fees, officials fees, jerseys, etc), we offer no refunds after this date.
6. What equipment do I need to play?
We provide jerseys, fields, officials, balls, etc. All you need are shorts or pants (with no pockets or belt loops), shoes, and a mouthpiece. Shoes should be non-metal cleats (soccer or football cleats are best).
7. Does the league supply uniforms?
Yes, every player will receive an official team shirt. Teams can wear their own league approved flag belt.
8. Do all flag football players need mouth pieces?
We highly recommend wearing mouth pieces, but it is not required.
9. How many players are on a team?
Although there is some variation, teams must have at least 8 players and a maximum of 12 players on their final roster.
10. What is the format?
Play is 5 versus 5 with a center snapper. Field size is typically 76 yards by 30 yards.
11. Are there playoffs?
Yes. All teams will play in the end-of-season playoffs. Playoff seeding will be determined by the league standings at the end of the regular season.
12. What are the roster limitations?
Additional players may be added or removed by season deadlines. The commissioner will announce when all final rosters must be submitted. All players must play a certain number of games to qualify for the playoffs. For the Fall 2016 Season, a minimum of 5 games must be played. Scrimmage games count toward this requirement. Medical hardship situations will be considered and must be brought to the attention of the commissioner by the team captain. A team can only add substitute players from other teams up until the 8th game of the season (10 game season). Substitutes can only be players from registered individuals within the CCFL. The CCFL will make announcements for team captains looking to fill their roster for an upcoming game if they feel they will be short players. The CCFL discourages forfeiting games and if 2 or more games are forfeited, the league can make a decision to remove your team from the remaining season schedule. Any other friend, pick-up, sub, last-minute player, etc. must register via the CCFL website and pay a $20 substitute fee to play in that scheduled game. At this point, they can be added to a teams roster but still must play the minimum number of games to qualify for the playoffs. If a player has not submitted a participation waiver at any time during the season, he will be disqualified.
