Pre-Season Captains Letter

We are finishing up the summer league and beginning scrimmage games for the upcoming CCFL Fall 2014 season. This is our 15th Fall League and it should be a good one. We had 26 teams last year and already have 5 new teams and 30 free agents signed up. I am still in the process of determining who will be relegated or promoted to one of the three divisions. After a few conversation with captains, my gut is telling me we will probably lose 3 or 4 veteran teams from the 2013 season.

The 5-on-5 format will be the same for all divisions. We’ve implemented two major changes to the format which has been a great success in both the summer league and the summer tournament we hosted. These changes are (1) An automatic 1pt or an option for 2pt PAT after a touchdown is scored (2) 3 additional plays at the end of regulation for each half with no game clock running – only a play clock (your team’s huddle).

We will continue to use the full-size field with 2 first downs. Each team will only have 1 time-out per half where an unused time-out will carry over for use in the second half. We will still have a one minute warning in the second half only with a clock stoppage. There will be no other clock stoppage, only at the official’s discretion.

I will have an updated CCFL Rule book for all players before the start of the season.

The 2014 League Fees are
$870 Team Fee (less $40 if your team has its own matching uniforms)
$120 Free Agent Fee (includes team shirt)
Fees include referees and game-time belts.
Each team will receive 8 game shirts, additional shirts are $10.

I am asking that you provide me before the start of the season 1 bye-week request. We will have a league bye-week with an option to play on Columbus Day Weekend and a bye-week Thanksgiving Day Sunday. Each team will be given approximately 3/4 double headers and/or 4/5 single games during the regular season. Each team will be guaranteed 12 games which will include a play-in game and/or a playoff game. Flex-scheduling request will be granted first come, first served for the first 8 games of the season. Once we hit Charlestown, it is hard to manage requests since we are limited with the number of fields. I will only take requests from Captains of teams and all requests must be made via email (Subject GAME REQUEST) on the Monday morning before noon prior to your next game.

Sunday, December 7 & 14 (Playoffs)
